Pat Bamford Signs With the Blades After Initiating Abusive Songs About Coach Chris Wilder
The striker has signed with the Championship side only half a year after starting disrespectful chants aimed at their manager, Wilder.
This experienced striker, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has signed a contract with the second-tier strugglers until January. His lengthy career at Elland Road finished amicably this past summer.
One of the player's last memorable actions as a Leeds player involved leading offensive songs about Wilder amid Leeds' promotion party this spring. Currently, the one-cap England player is set to play under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss aims to rescue the team he loves away from the bottom places.
Past History Between Bamford and Wilder
Both men had history before Leeds won promotion to the Premier League the previous campaign while Sheffield United were defeated in the playoff final by Sunderland. The manager called Bamford as “a muppet” when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United secured automatic promotion while Leeds missed out in the promotion playoffs.
Reconciliation & Looking Ahead
Everything appears has been resolved with United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, in desperate need of a boost in attack while Bamford hoping to rejuvenate his playing days.
The song about Wilder gained traction in April. An apologetic Bamford and the Leeds manager, Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the next day.
Chris Wilder said at the time: “Spoke with Pat recently and I have no problem at all with that. I'm uncertain about the language from a fellow professional! However I appreciated and admired him calling me.
“We spent a short while and the same again I talked with Daniel Farke as well and had a half-hour chat together and he's a super guy, a class act. Back in my playing days we used to dish it out and accept it and that’s part and parcel of the game at every level, even on Sunday league. I have absolutely no issue. I am cool with the situation and I said that to Patrick.”
Latest Playing Struggles
The forward featured in 18 games for Leeds last season however the former Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC and Middlesbrough player has faced difficulties with fitness issues in recent years.
