The boxing world has been a notable downturn this year, with limited compelling matchups and considerably fewer thrilling fights than usual. The possibility of a serious and intriguing heavyweight contest between Joseph Parker and Fabio Wardley at the London's O₂ Arena brings a measure of relief to the struggling sport. But each time I rise to the occasion I elevate my performance. Saturday will be no different. The separation between Parker's level and what others believe about me has been a frequent topic throughout my career.

“He's a seasoned veteran for a long time, with a many bouts on his record. By no means is he an aged fighter but he has been in the game for a while and had numerous grueling matches. I too have faced intense battles and I understand they take a toll. He has been in a lot more of those fights than I have.”

The Final Verdict

But the lingering doubt persists that Parker is likely to be too experienced, and too skilled, for Wardley. He should win a grueling encounter with the belief that he is the leading contender for a title shot against Usyk – the undisputed best in the division by a significant margin.
