Both Deceased Students Identified in Brown University Incident as Law Enforcement Continue Manhunt for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who died in the recent tragic incident at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their killer continued following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also expressed sympathies publicly, remarking: “There are no words. Remembering her family and friends, above all her mom and dad.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” his sibling Samira said in a online post.

The Shooting Incident

Nine more persons were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a search at a Hampton Inn about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.

“A perpetrator remains free,” said Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and head another way, and that is the current situation over the last approximately one day.”

Ongoing Concerns

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “This will probably generate new worry for our city”.

The shooter began shooting inside a lecture hall in the engineering building on Saturday, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a police source informed the media outlet.

Law enforcement that searched the lodging seized a pair of pistols and two ammunition clips when the person of interest was arrested, according to reports.

The Wounded Victims

Of the nine hurt, one student was discharged from care, mentioned the university president, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in critical but stable condition, and one was in critical condition, authorities stated on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a private academy in Durham, North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

Further Tributes

Tributes were paid to Cook at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only in her youth... but at Brown University she was an incredible light in that specific location as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the club. “Ella was known for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she served her chapter and peers,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the passing of Umurzokov in a message. “We extend our sincere condolences to Mr Umurzokov’s family, loved ones, and peers and mourn the loss of his potential.”

The fatal shooting at Brown, the country's seventh most historic college with about 7,300 undergraduate and three thousand graduate students, occurred during one of at least 392 mass shootings recorded nationally so far in the current year, according to statistics. The following Monday was the 349th day of the year.
