Actor Refutes Anti-Vaxxer Position After Voicing Contentious Pandemic Film
Liam Neeson has lent his voice to a recent film that challenges the efficacy of immunizations and lauds ex- cabinet secretary RFK Jr.
The Film's Provocative Foundation
Called "Plague of Corruption," the project is adapted from a well-known publication published by a disgraced researcher, who became famous during the global outbreak for claims that the virus was linked to a bad strain of the seasonal immunization.
The publication's co-author, a producer, has penned books with far-right radio host a known commentator. Heckenlively took to social media praising Neeson's participation in the project.
A Strong Statement
A spokesperson for the actor have issued a comment firmly refuting claims that he subscribes to anti-vax sentiments.
"Everyone can acknowledge that corruption may occur within the medical sector, but that should never be conflated with being against vaccines," the comment states. "Liam has never been, and is not, anti-vax. His considerable work with the UN children's agency underscores his consistent support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The response added that the star did not shape the film's editorial content and that questions about its content ought to go to the creators.
Major Claims In the Documentary
According to the documentary, the voiceover read by Neeson features several strong claims:
- It claims that pro-immunization voices have called for "blind obedience" to public institutions.
- It argues that "medical science has become dangerously politicised."
- Kennedy is interviewed saying, "The big problem with vaccines is that they simply are not adequately tested."
- It further attacks pandemic restrictions, saying they caused mental anguish that cost thousands of lives.
- On the topic of Covid vaccines, it mentions a perspective that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Previous Context and Recent Issues
It further cites a past television report about AIDS medication trials on children, which was subsequently the topic of a formal apology by the broadcaster for unbalanced reporting.
Recently, RFK Jr instructed the CDC to change its official position that there is no link between immunizations and autism. This claim is also referenced in the documentary, even with a fresh analysis from the global health body reiterating no such link has been found.
An Earlier Statement of Advocacy
Differing from the documentary's message, Neeson has previously shown firm endorsement for vaccines in his position as a charity ambassador.
In 2022, he called vaccines as "an extraordinary triumph," stating that "The conversation about vaccines in recent years has lost sight of how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in human history."
"Plague of Corruption" finishes with Neeson's script proclaiming, "This marks not the finish of our journey. Rather, it is the dawn of a different phase."
